ACSC Mentorship Program

Ancient City Soccer Club has established a Mentor Coach at each age group from U7-U12.  Each mentor coach is appointed by DOC Josh Braun with the Board’s approval.  They work hand in hand with the DOC in providing effective lessons that coincide with the ACSC Model for Development so that each child systematically learns the valuable tools needed to be a successful soccer player as they get older.  Each mentor brings a unique set of skills (personality, high level of playing experience, coaching experience, and coaching licenses) interconnected to the specific age group that they are working with in the Ancient City Soccer family.  The Mentorship Program accomodates coaches from a wide variety of soccer backgrounds-from those with no soccer experience, to the coach who has both played the game and has prior experience coaching.

U7 Mentor

Lance Layman

Lance played soccer collegiately for national powerhouse Indiana University where he won two national championships and was a national finalist in three of the four years that he played.  Lance has been involved in coaching youth soccer for years in a variety of programs.  He has run futsal (indoor) soccer leagues, three v three teams, and is certified in a variety of fitness, agility and coordination licenses and certifications.  He currently holds a USSF National "D" Coaching License.

U8 Mentor

Rob Goossens

Rob played 4 years of college soccer at Flagler College and has been an instructor at a variety of soccer camps in Florida.  Rob currently holds a USSF "E" License. 

U10 Mentor

Jeff Branch

Jeff has coached soccer at the highest levels in the United States.  Jeff played collegiately at the University of Tampa and was a member of US Soccer’s National Staff.  Jeff holds a USSF "A" License.

U12 Mentor

Sam Holmes

Sam played collegiately for Flagler College and has coached premier level soccer for St Augustine United for the past three years.  Sam currently holds a USSF "E" License.
